On September 22 – 24, 2020 Microsoft Ignite takes places online. There are as usual hundreds of sessions. We can expect that there will be something for everyone. And everything without travelling. Is it great?
For Microsoft Teams there are also many sessions, i.e. featured sessions, digital breakouts and ask the experts. The latter provides you the opportunity to engage with Teams product and engineering experts. For these sessions you need to book your virtual seat in and so you should book as soon as possible because the space is limited. For details check out the links at the bottom. Enjoy Ignite 2020!
Microsoft announced a virtual event called Microsoft 365 Marathon. It will take place online from May 27. – 28., 2020 an it will be 36 hours all about Microsoft 365. More than 300 speakers will present different topics. There’ll be over 400 session. Can it get better, yes, it’s for free. This is really impressive and definitely the suited format given the current circumstances. So, if you want to learn about Microsoft 365, I’d say that this virtual event is the one you should not miss. As far as I’ve seen there are all kind of sessions (depths) from overview to deep dive available, e.g. regarding working remotely, using live events, set up your corporate intranet, security and compliance and many more. You can read some more details and register via the Microsoft SharePoint Blog. Enjoy if you can make it!
Microsoft announced that the annual tech event “Microsoft Ignite” will be a pure virtual event due to the current circumstances. The event was planned for September 2020 in New Orleans. Besides Ignite, other conferences were also announced to be virtual-only. E.g.
- Microsoft Build | May, 2020 | developer conference
- Microsoft Inspire | July, 2020 | partner conference
- Microsoft Ignite | September 2020 | tech conference
Conclusion, opinion and summary
I’m looking forward to Ignite 2020 albeit it will take place online-only and although it is not the same as an in-person event. This is the only way to host any event anyway concerning the the current circumstances instead of canceling it completely. And of course this has also advantages compared to an in-person event, for instance,
+ no travel [time, cost, stress]
+ attend anywhere
+ attend anytime [or when it’s fits best for you].
In this post I like to highlight Microsoft Ignite The Tour 2019 – 2020 and what it is and why you might want to attend.
Microsoft Ignite 2019 took place in November 2019 in Orlanda, Florida, USA. More than 25k people were attending the technical event onsite. Months before it was sold out due to the high demand for it. Customers and partners from all across the globe attended the event if they were lucky to get tickets early enough.
After the major event, Ignite 2019, the Tour starts and delivers the Microsoft Ignite experience around the world near to you. It’s smaller in attendee numbers and takes places in many cities on the globe to provide you with great contents from Ignite 2019 nearby so that the event comes to you.
The Tour takes places in many cities and in each world region (EMEA, NOAM, LATAM, APAC). You can learn, explore and connect on the Microsoft Ignite The Tour.
Conclusion, opinion and summary
If you could not attend Microsoft Ignite 2019 in Orlando and interested its best contents to learn, explore and connect you might want to attend Microsoft Ignite The Tour near you. In 2020 there are many dates for the Tour till May 2020 but you need to be quick because some are already booked and you can only join a waiting list.
In my opinion Microsoft Ignite The Tour is really a great idea (by Microsoft) and opportunity (for you). You do not need to travel so far, have the best contents delivered more or less nearby and you can get in touch with Microsoft experts and other attendees.
Cisco Live 2020 is ahead. Cisco Live 2020 takes places in each world region (EMEA, NOAM, LATAM, APAC) and it is for customers, experts and partners. It’s the annual Cisco event to learn, explore and connect all around Ciscos’ products and services. And of course if you are not able to attend onsite you can watch certain live streams or afterwards session recordings.
In 2020 the events takes places at the following cities
- 27.-31.01.2020 Barcelona Spain, EMEA
- 03.-06.03.2020 Melbourne, Australia, APAC
- 31.05.-04.06.2020 Las Vegas, USA, NOAM
- 27.-29.10.2020 Cancun, Mexiko, LATAM
Conclusion, opinion and summary
I’m not going to attend the event but I’ll probably find some time to watch the key notes and some overview sessions regarding communication and collaboration to see what Cisco is planning in this space. Especially, what’s on the road map for 2020 and beyond.
To me, it’s important to observe the communication and collaboration market to stay up-to-date and to know (different) communication and collaboration services’ capabilities. Knowing helps in discussions regarding pros and cons.
In this post I summarize my Microsoft Ignite 2019 (user) experience and highlight some additional resources (links) regarding Microsoft 365, Office 365 and especially Teams which is ideal to read for the weekend.
Now, that Microsoft Ignite 2019 ended there was and still is a lot of information to digest. A considerable amount of announcements were made and published during the week. At the bottom of this post I provide you some cross-references to resources where you get details on product and service announcements which were made.
The conference took place from 04. – 08. November 2019 in Orlando, FL, USA in the Orange County Convention Center (OCC) and attached buildings. Before, I was told that the OCC is the second largest conference venue (in size) in the US. Before being onsite I thought, ok, well. Than, finally, being on the venue and already getting there was “wow”. The venue is really beyond XXL. My step counter displayed more than 13.000 steps each day, except on Friday/last day. Thanks to my comfortable running shoes my feet are fine and alright. 😉
I’m still impressed, of the logistics to get all people, things and services organized. It was excellent organized. It was a pleasure to attend the Microsoft Ignite 2019. Lots of valuable and rich learning content first-hand, conversations, ideas, tips & tricks, and, of course, road maps on what’s about to come for products and services in the near or “far” future. Fantastic event!

This year’s Microsoft Ignite 2019 takes place in Orlando, FL, US from 04.-08. November. Ignite is about innovative solutions, how you can built/implement/migrate and manage them.
However, it’s sold out, but you could view live streams, especially the keynotes. Other sessions and contents are usually also widely made available afterwards.
This year I’m glad to attend Ignite. It’s a great opportunity not just to learn about the greatest and latest in tech around the Microsoft products, services and best practices, no, it’s more than that, it’s also an amazing opportunity to socialize with others in your area of expertise and get other views/approaches and ideas.
If you’ll be onsite feel free to send me a pm via Twitter or LinkedIn.
In this post I like to inform you about the upcoming Microsoft Flow Online Conference 2019. The free (~8-hours) online conference starts at September 10th, 2019 at 9 AM (EST), 15 PM (CEST).
The focus of the online conference is to show how to automate processes and tasks easily (with no or little code) by using Microsoft Flow and related technology from the Office 365 stack and more. And if you might wonder what about Teams integration? Can I automate things in Teams by using Flow? Of course, you can integrate and use Flow in conjunction with Teams. So you can automate processes and integrate it within Teams as your hub of modern teamwork.
Conclusion, opinion and summary
First of all, I already like the format, because it’s an online conference and I do not need to travel far, catch any plane, stuck in any traffic jam or else.
The agenda and list of content looks pretty nice! There’s something for everyone, you can find sessions if you are completely new to Flow but also if you are a bit more advanced and automated some processes and tasks.
For market observers, in this post I want to notify about Microsoft Inspire 2019. The event takes place in Las Vegas, Nevada from July 14th – 18th, 2019. It’s for Microsoft partners to meet, connect and of course, get inspired all around Microsoft’s and Partners’ services.

- Monday, July 15, 2019 approx. 17:30 – 19:30*
- Wednesday, July 17, 2019 approx. 17:30 – 19:30*
* Europe/Berlin time)
As usually, Microsoft plans to make the Inspire sessions available some time (approx. two days later) after the event or session took place. So, stay tuned for more details on the below pages as the event comes closer and after it took place.
