External call routing settings can be changed by Microsoft Teams calling user

In this post I want to inform about an upcoming feature in the Teams calling space. Users get a option to directly change their external call routing settings in their Teams app starting in February 2024. There are not more details available on the roadmap item.

I have two guesses on the meaning so far. Either it could mean that (1) the quick setup for call forwarding is changed

… or the call popup for an incoming (PSTN) call could be the subject to change which gets two more options or a choice to decide quickly on what should happen if a call comes in and busy-on-busy is not enabled? If you have other assumptions or guesses, let me know. I’ll keep this in mind and I will probably going to update this post as soon as the feature and change shows up in my tenant.

Update 17.01.2024

Thanks to a reader’s hint there is already something to see in the Teams Admin Center in the calling policies.
