The new Outlook will be generally available (GA) starting August 1, 2024, as per the official announcement on the Microsoft 365 Message Center (MC810420). This marks the end of its preview phase, making it ready for productive use in enterprises. Organizations have the ability to manage its availability and are advised to prepare for migration. Assistance and resources are available to facilitate the transition from the classic version to the new Outlook, also beyond August, 1st 2024.
It’s important to note that despite the general availability of the new Outlook from August 1, 2024, there will be no automatic switch for users and devices within the organization. Users can choose to experience the new Outlook or continue with the classic version. This means administrators and change managers do not need to have everything prepared for a transition by August 1, 2024.

Having used the new Outlook extensively over the past few months, especially with Copilot for Microsoft 365, I can share some personal insights. While it may not yet cover all the functionalities of the classic Outlook, it has become increasingly comprehensive and user-friendly. Adapting to some of the new features and workflows can significantly enhance your productivity. Furthermore, it is a product and service which is still evolving overtime. To check what’s next and upcoming you could read the current Microsoft 365 roadmap to follow the latest developments and stay tuned.
