Microsoft Teams Phone Multi‑Line Support for Users

In this post, I would like to point you towards exciting news regarding Teams Phone and how many phone numbers can be assigned soon. Microsoft says it will add Teams Phone user multi‑line support, the capability to directly add several phone numbers to a single user. So no more workarounds? The rollout is scheduled to start in April 2026. Teams Calling Administrators will be able to assign up to 10 (ten!) phone numbers to a single Teams user. This enables users to make and receive calls from multiple numbers without switching accounts, devices, or hardware.

Furthermore, you do not have to figure out a more creative way to cope with this to satisfy such a business requirement by using SBC inbound manipulations, resource accounts, caller ID policies, call queues, the unassigned numbers feature, or other ways to accomplish reachability for a single user over different phone numbers.

So the news says that with multi‑line support, a single Teams user can:

  • Handle multiple roles or departments using different phone numbers
  • Represent regional or local identities when working across markets
  • Manage calls for global customers from one unified Teams experience

The experience is planned for Teams Desktop (Windows & Mac), Teams Mobile and Teams-certified devices.
