Soon users will be able to control nearby shared Teams meeting room devices via their Teams app on Windows. It is already available and launched for mobile devices (Teams on iOS/Android). The so called Teams room remote is handy if you are in a Teams meeting room because the Teams meeting room device joins the meeting and you as well via your Teams app (Android, iOS or soon Windows). As you join the meeting you can control similar things as you could from a Teams room system control panel which usually resides on the meeting room’s desk, e.g. Video on/off, Mic on/off, change volume, layouts etc.
This feature shouldn’t be mistaken for casting or joining with second device because Teams Rooms remote is more or less a remote control capability for the nearby Teams room device.
