Seit ein paar Tagen ist die Skype for Business (SfB) Client Preview zu haben. In Kürze (14. April 2015) soll der Skype for Business Client als Lync Update veröffentlicht werden. Somit können IT-Pros via Windows Update (WSUS, SCCM SUP, o. ä.) die Lync Clients zu Skype for Business Clients updaten. Der Prozess ist nahezu identisch zu dem für die Installation des SfB. Die Skype for Business-Oberfläche wird mit diesem Update-Release zum Standard werden.

Auf dem Office Blog sind Cmdlets zur Steuerung des User Interfaces des Clients (Lync UI vs. SfB UI) veröffentlicht worden. Damit können IT-Pros sowohl für Lync Server 2013/SfB Server als auch Lync Online/SfB Online vorgeben welche UI für die User angezeigt werden soll.

Lync / SfB Online

Aktivieren: Grant-CsClientPolicy -PolicyName ClientPolicyEnableSkypeUI (default)
Deaktivieren: Grant-CsClientPolicy -PolicyName ClientPolicyDisableSkypeUI

Lync / SfB Server

Aktivieren: Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $true (default)
Deaktivieren: Set-CsClientPolicy -Identity Global -EnableSkypeUI $false
